Problem with Mondeo remote central locking

We are working with a 1997 P-reg’ early Mark 2 hatchback.
When you try to remotely lock the doors, they unlock themselves again. It’s as if the driver’s door is still open, but the interior lights go off when you close it. If you use the key in the driver’s door lock, you can lock all four doors as usual.
You can then remotely unlock the passenger doors, but the driver’s door stays locked. Again, you can unlock the driver’s door using the key in the door lock. If you just use the key in the driver’s door lock, you can unlock all four doors as usual.
The plastic bar on the driver’s door latch, which the door hooks on to, was badly worn, so I thought that this might be confusing the remote locking system into thinking that the door wasn’t closed, However, renewing the door latch didn’t cure the fault.
I now suspect either a faulty electrical connection to the driver's door solenoid motor or, knowing my luck, a faulty solenoid motor itself.
Any other easier and cheaper possibilities?
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.

Sorry, don't know the solution to your problem but please note this.
We have a 2001 Mondeo and a similar problem a few weeks back had us locked out of the car with the key in the ignition as the central locking had activated itself.
I make sure everytime now that the key comes out the car with us but please be careful.0 -
hi
you need to replace the drivers door motor it costs about 20 quid and takes about 30 mins to do
it is a very common issue on all mondeos (i am doing my 2003 mondeo today)
either that or just use the key in the door0 -

You already said it - use the key the old fashioned way.
Is it really worth spending anything that you don't have to on a 13 year old car?0 -
