Memory's a bit iffy now as this was a while back but when I tried to purchase a 3 year rail card at the age of 25 it wouldn't let me. I'm pretty sure I would have tried. This was online by the way. Perhaps you could get away if you tried at a station.0 -

I suppose the situation can apply to a student of any age 26 and over about to graduate. Trains cost so much without one and I could really use the discount for a bit longer for job searching.0
