Graham, banks don't go around poking in various sorts of accounts to see what's there before lending it to people - it's a charming notion, but it doesn't work like that.
Banks have assets of various kinds - including deposits in current accounts and savings accounts, as well as investments and such - and loan books, and they manage their loan books according to solvency rules based on their overall balance sheets.0 -
For what it's worth, I understand that Dyfrig John has said that he was misquoted. I'd be really surprised if they went through with this - remember when they introduced the cash machine fees and then had to withdraw them because they were so unpopular? :mad:Working hard to be debt free so that I can reduce my full time working hours and spend some time with my 1 year old son. :kisses3:0
