Crazy Electricity Bills
Hi,
I stay in a 2 bedroom conversion flat with my brother.
I moved in this property in Sep 2009.
Recently, I got a call from Southern Electric stating that I had a crazy bill of over £3000 due to be paid.
I took the meter reading and gave it to them and that brought down the bill to £1300 for the period of Nov 2009 till March 2010.
I am still not convinced that this is correct especially because of the fact that we were not in the Country for about 2 months, between Dec and Jan.
The Gas Bill is separate.I use Southern Electric.
Not sure what I should do as this is the first house that I have rented.
Can someone please help??
Regards,
Anubhuti

If you have gas heating the electric used is worrying.
Try turning absolutly everything of. (Turn off at the fusebox) and see if there is any change in your reading just in case the conversion left you paying for someone elses electricity.
If not try reading it daily for a week using everything as normal to check consumption. Ask supplier to check consumption against historical records for the flat.
