Decided to update and run virus check earlier, one infection found (trojan horse generic16.AOWT) and moved to virus vault, 50 warnings that were either healed or moved to virus vault.
Checked for updates again, updated it and ran virus check again, no infections but 11 warnings found in same directory
C . Documents and Settings . My Name . Application Data . Mozilla . Firefox . Profiles . zxidkn03.default
Can I just delete this zxidkn03.default folder ?
using avg 9.0.798

That looks to be standard firefox folder, not a virus - leave it alone.
Clear your firefox cache and then do a virus check.0 -

And get yourself a decent free anti virus when you're done, Avira, Avast or Microsoft Security Essentials are all good free options.0

You have the full AVG security suite. Really not a good idea as the firewall is very poor. If possible id disable it and use windows inbuilt firewall instead
As your clearly still infected ~
Please run COMBOFIX
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
Shut down your anti virus
Follow the simple instructions it gives
Post the COMPLETE log it creates here (Split into sections if need be) ~ if there are loads of 'SNAPSHOT' pages then leave them out
If it comes up with a RENAMING error then RIGHT click the exe file and RENAME and call it QWERTY (Making the complete file name 'QWERTY.exe') Or SAVE as 'QWERTY' on download:idea:0 -
>>O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Xzopugahopiranoh] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\ecexocac.dll",Startup
Brilliant, thats the annoying pop up gone from everytime I boot the laptop up. AVG had picked that up and moved it to Virus Vault and I've had the pop up ever since.
>> You have the full AVG security suite. Really not a good idea as the firewall is very poor. If possible id disable it and use windows inbuilt firewall instead
AVG Firewall disabled. Windows inbuilt Firewall enabled/switched on but cant see any icons down near the clock (bottom --> side), am I meant to ?
Off to do Combofix
Ps - Thank you for your help0 -
Daft question - how do I shut down the anti virus ? (or rather the AVG Internet Security 3-pack). Only thing I can find is uninstall ..0
-
Windows firewall will be shown as ON if you visit the security center (Youll need to double check everythings fine after a reboot)
To disable the Resident Shield, please:
* open AVG User Interface
* double-click on the Resident Shield
* un-tick the option "Resident Shield active"
* save the changes:idea:0
