Looking to get a Peugeot 207 CC (Trade/Private)
Ive been looking at cars a lot quite recently, I want a Peugeot 207 CC.
I have 5k ish saved, So was looking at a 05 Peugeot 206 CC at around 5-6K Private sale.
I think it would be better to buy from a dealer spending that much on a car but that obv pushes up the price, so was looking at the newer model the 207 CC
Searching around dealers and on autotrader/ebay too. im looking at 8.5 - 9.5k
Ive seen one dealer (Robbins and Son) who are offering 0% Apr on all 207 Models, with 50% deposit - and their cheapest 207 cc (2007) is just under 10k
I need to think about how much to spend or if i should just get a cheaper version, but just wanted others opinions of Private v trade and if there is anything i should ask when i go for a test drive. Should i still try get it cheaper if they are doing 0% Apr too
Thanks

Try and get to test it in the pouring rain or get the garage to put the pressure washer on it, they tend to leak and the folding roof mechanism can be problematic to say the least.
The 207 is a much nicer drive and sturdier car than the 206 i would try to stretch to one if you can, be quick though spring is upon us and they will be in demand again.
Just a thought could you see yourself in an MX5 instead, ok it will be a soft top for that price but a lovely proper and very reliable/durable sports car.0 -
Will have a look out for the MX5 too. wasnt sure about a soft top tho!
Did also look at the Vauxhall Tigra but out the hard top the peugeot seems better.
Seen some private sales advertised for a 2005 206 for aroun 5k (cheapest) - some even 2001 -2003 arouns 4-5k too but thats the older model and thinking of the resale value when i sell (obv years away) so the 207 would be the better option for that tooMake £10 a day Challenge June - £1700 -
I've learnt that dealers who offer 0% finance just get the money by adding the price on top of the list price so it's not always the best deal.
I went to one garage and almost bought a 2 year old 207 (not CC) with 0% finance for £9500. Went to another who wasn't offering 0% finance and got the exact same model but a year newer with 10,000 miles less on the clock for £8500!
Guess what I went for?! :rotfl:A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Looking at private i can get one around 8.5k (looking on autotrader)
Trade are around 9.5k which is same as cheapest from this dealer.
There is one trade on autotrader which is 8,750 but has done a lot more milage (87k for a 2007 car)
Id be saving 1k if i was buying private - but wont have any guarantees as such, and only have 5k saved, so will have to either wait (ages) or get a bank loan - which wont be 0%
Will keep looking at different sites looking for a good deal too!
Saw one on ebay auction - private sale, for a 2005 206 which is 4100 at the moment with a reserve of 5k. but so tempted to get the newer version!
I think im so undecided as ive never been in debt and with such a huge purchase getting finance etc is a big step and want to make the right one.
I do get High rate DLA (Mobility) so could go down that route but id rather use that money to put towards a car that i will actually own. plus they want a few thousand on top to get a convertable!Make £10 a day Challenge June - £1700 -
Personally I would always buy from a garage now and would never buy a car that was more than 3 years old due to the higher costs of maintenance and MOT.
The car I bought at the beginning of the month had extensive scratches on the back but you could only see it from really far away and not close up (it was under the bumper where someone had taken it on a test drive - it was a demo car, and they must have reversed up a high kerb). If I had bought the car privately I would have been stuffed but I rang the dealer as soon as I got home (and noticed!) and they took it back in and repaired it.
Obviously, I should have checked the car better!
Just make sure you have some car savvy with you when you go to have a look
I love my Pugs - had 2 x 206's and said the CC would be next but the little boy in my avvy said I needed a 5dr car instead!A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

I cant stop looking, saw some on ebay (classified ads for 2008 models for around 10k too)
obv would need a bank loan/finance then and would be paying interest so need to work out whats best, or get a 2007 or maybe even a 2008 model and haggle on price from the dealer who is offering 0% (will have to get someone else to do that for me tho haha)
Now the colour.... blue or black!
I wanted a black but my auntie has the 207cc in black which i like and cousin has the 206cc in green! but the blue stands out too hahaMake £10 a day Challenge June - £1700 -
Hi have you brought a 207cc yet?? I'm looking for the exact same car aswel i test drove the blue one the other day and absolutely loved it, it was a 2008 had 11000 miles on it priced at £10995 i tried to haggle the price but they were having none of it so i said i would have to think about it when i got home i checked their website (they were a peugeot dealer) and they had it advertised online £500 cheaper so i was so annoyed because i would of had it as it was a newish car with low mileage, sent my partner to the peugeot garage today to enquire why the price is different and the car has been sold for the lower price i'm so disappointed. I've been looking on autotrader and seen some in other garages (not peugeot) but i dunno if i trust them, its a lot of money to give a small garage and if something goes wrong with the car your !!!!!!ed at least if you buy from peugeot you know you can get a warranty with the car, but it is tempting to go to a smaller dealer because of the lower prices etc i'm going back to peugeot tomorrrow as they said they were extremely sorry and want to find me another car so hopefully they may get what i want and maybe for a lower price!0

I got it yestersay and i love it!!!! also a 2008 model in blue, got them down from £11,490 to £10.750 with 6 months tax, It was from Guilford, but got them to get it to birmingham dealer there too which is good.
What garage was you looking at?
Mine was on finance too, 0% Finance/50% Deposit.
Oh also was the one you looked at the Sport or GT Version?Make £10 a day Challenge June - £1700 -
ohhh you got a nice deal then! the garage i went to was in watford im going to view two on sunday ones in canterbury and the others in epsom both about 2 hours from where i live. but the one in canterbury is a 2009 model £12300 with only 2000 miles on it. i dont really want to pay £12300 i'm going to try and knock them down a bit. What sort of things did you say to them to knock your price down?0
