I'd have thought you'd be ok doing that, as in go through immigration etc. just be careful to be back in time as the queue for immigration might be long.
I did a similar thing when i was flying via Munich from london to Tokyo. I just went through the immigration saying I wanted fresh air before my longhaul flight, showed him my Munich - Tokyo boarding card, got the passport stamped and happily i went out. I didnt have time to go to the city itself though, it was only a 2 hour stopover. After wondering around the airport I just went through the departure immigration, security control etc and went on my plane to Tokyo.0 -
I think you should be fine to pop out into Amsterdam for a 5 hour stopover. I think you should make sure you are back at the airport at least one hour before your flight though.Immigration should be quick, as you will be going through the EU zone. Security coming back into the airport may be a bit longer, but as you won't have any bags to checkin or get your boarding pass, that will all be fine. You should get about 3 hours in the city."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0

Hi,
Once when i was transiting thrg AMS for 2 hours we managed to get out and get some fresh air.
As for Trains ... yep Trains are right there as soon as you come out of the airport into the Arrivals bit and from there its about 20 mints ( i think 20 mints ) to Centre of Ams Town. Mind you ... you might not be able to do a lot ... maybe a quick " COFFEE " ( he heee ).
Sorry .. got carried away.
Yeah i think you should make use of your time there and go into the town .. but make sure you keep an eye on the time !
Have a great trip honey.

I agree .... you shouldn't have any problems .... I've left the airport it transit loads of times and not had a problem ... alough never in Amsterdam.
It worth going for a look and the trains from the airport to Amsterdam are quick and reliable.0 -
