lovetowinacar wrote: »Hi there - did you set your year end to run with the tax year? I had considered doing that since my year end is February 16th and I guess that time of year limited jobs so easy to go with a slightly longer years records but never did it. Do you find it easier?clippy_girl wrote: »i only started in sept so prob not the best person to ask lol! figured if i have to do figures etc.. for that period i mite as well run my year the same. however i have a full time job so i pay tax on all my ms profit (minus the expenses, printing etc...) so doesnt make much difference to me
My year ends on 31 December. This is a throwback to a previous working life when my quiet time used to be in January (it meant I could bring my books up to date in January). In those days, I used to have an accountant, and this is what he advised me to do.
I have kept this as my year end and it still works quite well: I have ample opportunity to look at my acounts before the end of the tax year and make sure that all my paperwork is is order. The only slight complication is employed income, but advice from the taxman has helped a lot and my tax return is now pretty straighforward.
I think if I had a choice now, I'd still go for a trading year end that was different to the tax year end.0 -

Anybody else doing the posh healthclub for Tern ? It's my first time in a health club and I am loving this assignment. Hopefully when it comes to cancelling the membership I would not be addicted.0
