Changing to Talk Talk

My MIL has changed to TT today. She is 84 and in ill health. We live 250 miles away and are getting the message "this line does not accept incoming calls".
The website states there may be interuption to service for up to 5 hours.
Is this the case ?
My wife is concerned and we can get no response from helpline.
