If I had any gold (which I dont..) I would probably go to the Jewellery quarter in Brum and get several valuations from shops there.. I would never send anything as valuable as gold in the post.

Chards of Blackpool are proper bullion dealers ... a world apart from the TV 'cash for old gold' scammers.

Are they? I was just offered for scrap 9ct far less less than either Lois or the Manchester Gold Company.
yes they will buy certain A1 condition coins at bullion prices. but the rest of their pricing is below high price levels

I had two really old watches, the cases were 9ct gold, they were not that heavy to i thought they would be worth next to nothing. I took them to my local Gus Jones Jewellers and they gave me £110.00. Before that I took to one of these gold buying shops which seem to be popping up everywhere and they offered me £60.00 and that was after the first offer of £45.
  • When I saw the first advert on TV offering cash for Gold (think it was Cash4Gold) advert, I instantly knew it was a scam. Even at the time, I didn't know the value of gold was on the rise, there was something about the advert that screamed "Do not send your gold to use, or we'll rip you off!"

A week later a saw several more different companies advertising cash for your gold. There was one offering cash for silver and platinum alongside gold.

They are all on my list of worthless and irritating adverts, which also contains GoCompare, Halifax, this other car insurance comparison site (moneysomethingorother,) and many more.
