Being asked for letter to confirm leak is fixed.

Hi,

A couple of weeks ago the lady in the flat below mine came to tell me there was water leaking into her flat. On investigation I discovered there was a leak in the mains pipe to my dishwasher. I fixed that immediately.

Now she has gone through the management company's insurance and had some quotes done for her ceiling but says I need to provide a letter to say what the problem was and that it's been fixed. (I've also said I'll pay the £100 excess)

Now I don't mind doing the letter, as long as it's not a trick by the insurance company to get me to accept full liability. Am I being paranoid or should I be careful?

Thanks

Yes be careful and stick to the facts.

Which is ' the pipe to the dishwasher was (cite fault) and I have fixed this by doing X( state what you have done to fix)

Do not say add anything more.

It could be that if you did not have a qualified plumber fix the fault, if the same problem happens again, they may look to you to compensate for the damage. This is because they could argue you have not taken reasonable precautions to prevent damage.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.
