Help please: pci tv card?

I've just got a pc with PCI Tv card(Hauppauge Win TV-PVR TV and FM radio tuner). The fm tuner works easy enough, It's the tv, I've got problems with. I plug the connection into the back of the sky box, but there is no picture, just the fussy display when there is no signal on tv. There is no seperate software for the tv card, it is only operational in Windows Media Centre.
Does anyone know of anything I need to do to be able to get it to work tro the pci card?

I've managed to get my sky signal on the pc(composite Input), by using a AV sender I got from Tesco, but I would prefer to use the PCI card if I can.

MTIA.

Which model of Hauppauge do you have? If it's the WinTV-PVR-150MCE I take it you do have Windows XP MCE 2005?

Only other thing that springs to mind is, have you set it to UK TV eg PAL

Also if your still stuck, Hauppauge do have a Forum Here which maybe able to help.

Try the hauppage site for their own apps.

    I don't have a SKY box so ......

Assuming your connecting SKY UHF out to WinTV UHF in ... connect the SKY out to the TV instead ... does that work? It sounds to me like you need a hauppage WinTV app to do the tuning for you.

Your far better off connecting the SKY box to your WinTV via the composite connection than the UHF one.

Does the SKY box output all its channels via the UHF out?

I'd be surprised if it doesn't use the standard WDM driver model (even with Media Centre). In which case there are several different TV apps you could try e.g. ChrisTV Lite.

Useful sources for info and advice, particularly their forums.

TV card tuners aren't as good as a TV / video of picking up a signal. Also the computer itself is a source of interference. In my case I think my Aluminium Lian-Li case + wireless networking + DECT phone stops me getting a decent signal even with an amplifier arial combo.

Thanks for all of you replies, I tried to respond yesterday and this mornin but I'm getting error messages when i post. I'm keeping this one short and hope it shows. I will stick with the composite connection as I'm able to use it anywhere in the house and not be stuck in the tv/sky room.

    Thanks again.
