browser choice arghhh

hiya

hope someone can help

just switched on my laptop and browser choice has appeared as an icon on my desktop

all my favorite pinned sites have gone looks like i've got to go through setting them all up again dam it

when i click on the browser icon it gives several to chose from i want ie8 but when i click on it it theres nowhere to download & install

is there anyway to get my system back to how it was yesterday before that blinking update installed

why dont ms ask if we want to change the browser before installing it that bloody icon took me ages to set all my favourite sites

i have windows 7

sorry for moaning but computers really test me

hope someone can help

    IE should still be there (just hidden) with all the current settings

    If you choose IE it will just put the desktop icons back

    They have done this to stop any more billion dollar fines from the EU

    i've done a system restore my systems back to normal :j:j

    can someone please tell me how can i stop that update installing and creating the problem again

    not sure about Windows7, I've only got Vista Home Premium, but should be much the same,

    if you go into Control Panel > Windows Update > Settings/Change Settings, I'm set for 'Download updates but let me choose whether to install them', you are maybe set for the 'Automatic update'.

    I've been getting the browser thing for a while now, but never tick it, because I have FF and IE, so not a big decision, prefer FF, IE for backup.
