I appreciate this may not be the most appropriate forum, but couldn't think were to put it, so perhaps a moderator would be kind enough to move it if it was better suited elsewhere. Also, people may have experienced this too if they have just moved.
I've just moved into a basement flat. There are approx. 5 other flats in the building. When I enter my postcode into automatic address fields for utilities/banks, etc. quite often it will only come back with the building number, e.g. 1 New Road. Sometimes it seperates out the flats, e.g. Flat 1, 1 New Road, but only one time have I had the basement flat (referred to as 1A in the sales blurb) as an option.
I wondered to what extent this has to be kept consistent with utilities, banks, etc, e.g. if I am down as 1 New Road at one, will I come up at all on someone elses system if I am down as Flat 1A, 1 New Road on theirs? I don't want to be creating a problem for future credit/id, etc.
Thanks

I had the exact same problem when I moved into my flat a few years ago. Strangely I contacted royal mail about this and now my address appears on all the searches. I'm not sure if they somehow regulate them - it only came up after I made a complaint about something else and they could not find my address on their system.
Worth a shot if nothing else.0 -

RM can add an address to the database
OP,contact your local delivery office and ask about getting your address added to the Aplus database0 -
I bought part of a house that had been split into 3 for over 25 years, but they were all called the same house number.
RM will add you to the database but I was also advised to write to the council to get officially changed to 42A or whatever you want your house to be called. Otherwise, you run the risk of being black listed along with a debt ridden neighbour etc. RM also told me there could be no comeback if a parcel was delivered to one of the other properties if they were all called the same!0 -
Find out what is was registered as at the council when it was split up. They'll have the correct address. Then inform royal mail.Keep it simple and you will find the middle way.0
