Bank Charges - Hardship Case

Hi All,
wrote to my bank regarding charges, was told last year that I was a hardship case having filled in expenditure forms etc but then after the test case ruling was sent a letter
saying that following that I would not be refunded is it worth carrying on and at what route ? we are talking 5 grand not incl interest.

    Even if the bank has accepted your word that you’re in financial difficulties or does after you’ve sent in the financial statement form, this doesn’t mean it has to give you your money back, just that it has to treat you sympathetically.

    It could try and help in other ways, such as not imposing any further charges, stopping any debt enforcement action against you or putting you into a payment plan to manage any debts you have with it. If you’re not happy with the offer carry on to Step 4 below.

    Has the bank actually responded to your hardship claim or is this the general decline letters being sent out? I would clarify that with them firstly.
    I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009
