Police are people too, how do we know THEY are not snooping? stealing? People who have been burgled generally feel the INVASION of their home to be one of the hardest parts and the police are doing just that.
If they are acting like criminals maybe they are criminals.
    wondering what to do next......:undecided

Surely if you suffer from anxiety, then hopefully you will have secured your home already, thus preventing the police from entering your house.

Yes I have. I keep all my doors locked all the time and I live in a flat so no real chance of people entering through windows though I obviously shut them when I go out.

However, imagine if you lived on a ground floor and had the window open to let some air in and a police man came through it!.....

Just imagine if you lived on a ground floor and had the window open to let some air in and a real burglar came in through it!

If a policeman can do it, so can a burglar.

That's the whole point isn't it?

Yes I do understand - but the police have no right to assume it's ok to enter in the name of promoting security.

Imagine if firemen started putting smoke bombs through your letter box, or the NHS used actors faked heart attacks in the street to promote people to learn first aid etc, really the world would be going mad....there are better ways to promote things than causing panic and fear.

No, and I am sure they wouldn't... if they could see you would spot any intruder coming through the open window.

I am sure you would do this (but just in case ;)), but if you are on the ground floor, then when leaving a room with an open window you really should secure it.

I think you'll find they have probably tried the other less drastic things... like tv ads, leaflets, posters, etc. and still people leave security risks to be exploited.
