Are you aware of the FIT scheme and are you planning on claiming it?

If so you need an MCS accredited installer AND MCS accredited equipment.

Search for your local installers and get a quote from several of them.

    Search here ..... http://www.microgenerationcertification.org/Home+and+Business+Owners/Microgeneration+Installers

I also find the Navitron Forums good for info and finding out if your quote is realistic, theres lots of inflated prices around! http://www.navitron.org.uk/forum/index.php

    Navitron also supply equipment!

Miami based Sunelec.com has a 60 watt panel for $1.20 per watt capacity but the cost with all equipment is roughly $2 per watt if on the grid (using both electric and solar) or roughly $3 per watt if off the grid (solar only). Shipping could add to these costs as well.

Which won't qualify for the UK FIT, and therefore won't save you a penny

    Landybabe,

If you haven't already looked at the links Hermann kindly posted, also consider Tesco & Sainsburys, as they've both in the last couple of weeks launched Solar PV sales (Ikea to follow soon as well)

Make sure you view previous installations from whoever you choose, double double check they are MCS (and so is the equipment), make sure your roof faces South (or not far off), make sure you don't have frequent shadows from trees, building etc, and post updates on here - the more serious people on here (ie non spammers) will give you impartial advice.

Your inane heckling is what I call spam. The UK FIT program isn't valid in the US. Therefore does not matter to people in the US. This thread is now useful to people who live in more than just the UK. Is that so terrible?

Actually, yes it is - this is a UK focused consumer advice site. By adding advice related to the US simply detracts from and clouds the issues being dealt with on this site, making it more difficult for UK users to find answers/solutions. A far more suitable alternative would be to have a similar site with a US focus.

This isn't even worthy of a decent reply
