My capped rate with powergen finished yesterday and they have informed me they have nowmoved me on to capped prices until 2010. However looking at the increases for gas it looks like an almost 100% rise! primary rate was 2.29p/kwh is now 4.55p/kwh and secondary unit rate was 1.56p/kwh and is now 2.96p/kwh, The electricity rise is not much better either. Have looked at Uswitch but totally confused as to who to go with. Any advise greatly appreciated as to who is currently cheapest, dont really want to wait to change as powergen's rises really are too much. Thanks.

Why don't you go onto a standard tariff then, You'll find that since you went onto the capped price until the 31st July 2006 there was about 5 price rises in that time.
Standard powergen gas would be 3.006p - Primary Kwh. 2.390 - Secondary Rate.
You could always ring powergen and ask what other products they offer as well. Your not locked into your capped price you can change tariffs.0 -
You face the same dilemma as we all do - to gamble on the direction energy prices will go over the next 4 years.
If Gal's prices are correct(haven't checked) you will be paying a stiff premium for the 2010 rate. - 50% for primary and 24% for secondary. Depending on your consumption that will probably be an overall premium of 30%.
You need to guess when(if) in the next 4 years the Standard rate will overtake the 2010 rate.0 -
Prices are correct for all areas but they are exc VAT
Capped prices vary from area to area based on the electricity supply number.0
