Santander Instant plus account

I applied for a current account online with santander last week and got declined, so they opened the instant plus account which is fine but they gave me a visa debit (electron) card which i dont want. I checked my credit report and there's nothing bad on there apart from linked addresses which i never lived there and ive contacted the agengy to correct that info.
They sent me all the details to register for online banking and telephone banking and the card in a two week period. They have not asked me to provide any id to prove who i am which is a bit worrying.
I went to my local branch today 29/03/10 to ask them to upgrade the card and to ask why they didnt ask for id when i applied for the account. The guy i saw did not give a hoot.
Should i appeal there decision for not give me a full visa debit. I have over a thousand pounds a month so that cant be a bad thing.

via your personal details, if you're on the electoral roll they can verify you without any need of additional proof, i never knew this before hand but useful MSE forum members pointed this out.

you can appeal the decision about the card, but there must be something on your report that is adverse to effect your rating.

    any defualts under 2 years?

the linked addresses are the reason probably, and because you're in the process of correcting it, that is what probably stopped you getting a full auth visa card.

BTW try another bank, RBS and natwest are good:D

    thanks usedandabused

I thought defaults were on file for 6 years or is that down to the company who issued it.

they do last 6 years but many mainstream banks have given current accounts after the default hits 2 years plus, like me and N&P, full visa debit auth card, £500 OD, cheque guareenteed, and default over 2 years, still on my file
