could it be that there is a security latch. Ours has one in the bottom corner, and it makes it feel that the latch is broken. There will be a pin you have to pull out of the corner.0

Had a good look and can't see any latch, it looks like someone may have tried to 'fix' it before.0

I don't think you can make the previous owners pay for it to be fixed as it is up to the buyer to ensure things are in working order before completion.
If you can't repair it yourself what you need to do is look in your local paper for a local tradesman, sometimes known as a 'Window Doctor' who will come out & repair the door for you.
I had a problem with my tilt & slide patio door when I moved into this house & got it fixed by such a person with no trouble. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
was it working when you viewed the property?
if it was open....... without you seeing it being unlocked, then its poss a case of 'bought as is'
if neccessary try contacting the sellers..... if in doubt, go via your solicitorsmile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....

(please don't take this the wrong way) .... you have no recourse against the seller - the house is "secondhand" and "not-new" you therefore accept it "warts-n-all". The only time that you have a potential claim is if express reference had been made to somthing working previously, and a gurantee as regards it's condition has been made along with a warantee ....
If the property was new or under and NHCB gurantee, then you would have recorse for items that are not working.0 -
still crap though. our seller was the same, its the house of hidden sins, what goes around comes around though xxYou're not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on0

True of almost everyhouse out there!
When you sell, would you hide stuff like this, or would you keep quiet and not spend the money to get things fixed?
Depends on your attitude to such things. There's always at least one thing where you think "hang on a minute" in the days after you move in. Ours was windows that wouldn't shut properly. Of course neither we nor the surveyor thought to open them during the sale (winter!)Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen nineteen and six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery0 -
