is it worth getting central heating??

Hi All,

I have just brought a 1 bedroom maisonette with economy 7 heaters installed and I was wondering if it is worth getting central heating installed. People have told me i will save money on energy bills if i get a comb boiler/central heating, but some has just told me that economy 7 heaters are actually cheaper I'm confused!!!

Plus would central heating add value to the property I have been quoted £1800 to install a good combi boiler and about 4/5 radiators from a friend, would these be worth doing people???

Your advice will be much appreciated.

Thanks All :money:

  • That is very cheap for a CH system, assuming he is qualified I'd bite his hand off

  • Yes he is corgi registered and I will be receiving a certificate, so would this be worth doing to increase the value of the property and save on energy bills??

CORGI is now obsolete, he will need to be Gas Safe registered to do this work.
Yes, CH will definitely increase the value of most properties, however it could take you some years to get your investment back in saved electricity bills alone.

    Hi

As you've had a quote I suppose you do have a gas supply to the property?
Gas will be cheaper to run and more responsive to demand.
How are you supposed to work with no hands??

    GSR.
Ask to see CIPHE (Chartered Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineering)
  • Yes thats a good price for a central heating system from new, its alot of work if there wasn't a previous one.
  • we do have gas supply

Thanks all for your helpful responses!!

If he buys his boiler from Plumb Center on the A1 scheme, you will get a £500 grant for taking out the storage heaters and changing to gas;)
