chasing out a wall....advice please

i'm wanting to put my tv on a bracket on the wall and obviously hide the wires etc..
i dont want to put in the wall any wires for the tv because i'm thinking within the year i'll be changing it.
so i'm looking at putting a plug socket at the height of the bracket then chasing 2 scarts and a HDMi cable in the wall.

whats the best way to go about this?

Normally, I would suggest one of these

However, the amount you are talking about doesnt warrant hiring one of these. Have you got an angle grinder? if so, draw two lines (wide enough to get metal sheething in and cut back to the brickwork) then balster it out. BE AWARE have a look at where you are cutting, if there are sockets underneath or to the left/right of where you are cutting, the cables could run directly through your path!!!

When you have had your cables placed, use a bag of Thistle Bonding coat to fill the wall back in, use 50% PVA 50% water mix on the wall first and let it dry, then bond it out. hope this helps

Edit: This will only work on a "solid" wall please dont try this if it is a stud wall. If it is a stud wall let me know & i'll advise
  • you can put AV sockets in the wall i.e hdmi/scart/audio

I use this supplier whenever I do, ring them for advice, tell 'em what you want to do and they can put a package together for you, The cost of cables from these guys is far better than you would pay for the same quality gear on the high street sometimes as much as 60% better

    we've got a concrete path in our back yard that i'm going to remove...its approx 15m x 0.5m x 0.1m

whats the best way to break it up? am i best using an angle grinder, lump hammer?
  • a kango, sledge hammer, brute force

for chasing out I often use a hammer drill with rotary stop and fit with an SDS chisel bit

always fit a conduit of some sort.
that way your future options are enhanced greatly.

do you mean if leads need to be removed from the wall etc?
  • If you are using an angle grinder on solid brick or plaster use a dust mask.
    Not Again

cables removed, or more importantly, added.
do you fancy changing a damaged cable without a conduit?
