Hi my father in law is going for surgery at Harley street and we want to go down and stay a few nights.
Any ideas where the best hotel is to stay?
Also, if we stay say in Oxford Circus, is there anyway we can avoid congestion charges if we have to park at the hotel?
Thanks all! x

Google maps is your friend http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?client=firefox-a&channel=s&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&hl=en&q=harley%20street&cr=countryUK|countryGB&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl
Then under Harley st, click on search nearby and put in hotel.
For congestion charging Tfl website is your friend http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/roadusers/congestioncharge/whereandwhen/
There is some kind of NHS congestion charge exemption thing, but is it through the NHS in Harley St?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -

You know, I never knew actual ops took place anywhere in Harley Street - I always thought they were just consultation rooms (and shared ones at that).0

If you drive into and out of london outside congestion charging times, and leave the car in a carpark in between, then you won't get charged. You will get charged if you are driving around during the hours of operation (can't remember offhand what they are but guess the above link will help).
I don't think you'd need to use the car if you are staying that centrally, buses and tubes and walking should sort you out.
Sorry I can't really help with hotels.0 -
Ops vary and can take place in a variety of medical buildings, consultation rooms to suites of theatres in hospitals.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Harley Street Clinic was slap bang in the middle. Can't recommend it - £2 for 2 paracetomol 25 years ago! Don't ask how much the room was - I could have installed a private nursing team at the Ritz for less. You know, I never knew actual ops took place anywhere in Harley Street - I always thought they were just consultation rooms (and shared ones at that).0 -
Warning re driving: don't just assume you can park at the hotel. Many don't have car parks at all and even some of the posh ones charge heavily. If you can avoid bringing a car into Central London, I think you would be happiest.
What sort of standard/price range of hotel are you looking for? And when are you travelling?0
