I have finally found a projector to connect to my laptop at a price I am willing to pay but it needs my laptop to have an AV Out connection, how do I tell if I have one?:oI have looked at all the slots and none of them say anything at all, just symbols and I can't find the book my laptop came with:mad:, I have a Dell Studio that is a year old, does anyone have one of these and could help or could anyone guide me in the right direction?, thanks for any help:)

Hi,
don't think it will have, AV's are those red, yellow, white cables,

I think your right, I read it should be coloured yellow, which I don't have, is the pic above a converter I could buy? Am I right in saying thats a usb connection at the end? Thanks for the reply:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

The lower cable looks HDMI to Phono. The current studio range do have HDMI ports.
If you go to the following website, click on the manuals link and key in your service tag (printed on the label on the underneath of the laptop) it will tell you exactly which model of laptop you have and you'll be able to check the specs in the manual.

Hi,
yes you should be able to buy a converter, can't find the link now, think it'll be the bottom one, with the usb end.
Just do a bit of searching, I'm going out now or would've had a plunder for you.0 -

Thank you, I'll have a hunt around for both and see what I come up with, just in case anyone is interested I am looking at 2 projectors one needs the av port and the other is just a straight usb connection but has no zoom, I need the projector to display stills only from my laptop, heres the link to them both, any opinions welcome:)

OK the Aiptek T20 wil do all you need, no cables required.
One end of the usb lead provided plugs into the projector and you plug the other (double) end into 2 of the usb ports on the laptop. Power and video all go through the usb so no adapters or extra cables required.
Maplin's price looked to be the cheapest in the UK, until i did some digging..
Conrad Electronic (Funnily enough the German equivalent to Maplin who have been selling online in the UK for a few years now) are £35 cheaper! .. and rather helpfully you can read the user manual too.
