"Line Connection Charge for £29.99 Special Offer – 18 month minimum term.

Customers taking this Special Offer will benefit from a £95 discount on the standard line connection charge of £124.99. Offer available between 2nd February 2010 and 30th June 2010 inclusive, Available to eligible new and existing customers agreeing to an 18 month contract on the Unlimited Weekend Plan (£11.54 per month), the Unlimited Evening & Weekend Plan (£14.53 per month) or the Unlimited Anytime Plan (£16.53 per month). Monthly Call Plan prices quoted include line rental charges (currently £11.54) and are with payment by Direct Debit and paper-free billing. Otherwise add £1.50 per month for payment processing fee levied by BT Payment Services Limited, a BT Group company, plus £1.25 without paper-free billing discount. Discount is via bill credit, which will be applied to your next or subsequent bill. Minimum call commitment applies – you must make at least 10 chargeable or inclusive calls per month (30 calls per quarter). You'll need to pay a charge of £5.15 for every month (if you are billed monthly) or £15.45 for every quarter (if you’re billed quarterly) in which you don't make these calls, as compensation for not making the minimum number of calls required. These charges are not subject to VAT and will appear in the one-off charges section of your bill. This offer can only be taken up once during the initial contract period. If you decide to end your contract within the minimum term, you will incur a single charge of £7.50 (on the Unlimited Weekend and Unlimited Evening and Weekend plans) or £8.00 (on the Unlimited Anytime Plan) for each month left of the minimum term. Within the minimum term, you may upgrade your Calling Plan, but you cannot downgrade your calling plan except where you are eligible for, and are moving to BT Basic. Other exclusions and conditions apply. Excludes customers benefiting from some special offers or deals."

    I have just spoken to BT and they claim that the offer is finished and that rge best they can do is £50 fee for an 18 month contract. Any ideas??

    That sort of thing always happens and, until they update the website, you're going to struggle to reach someone who knows about the extension.

    You might be lucky just calling again (and speaking to someone else) but you might not.

    Bear in mind they're mostly on commission so they'll try not to give you discount and try to sign you up for more than you need/want. You can get this offer by opting for the lowest calls plan (the Unlimited Weekend Plan) and do not need to take broadband or TV.
    Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    Same issue here. No interest in taking me on as a customer unless I take the TV, land line and broadband package to get the free reconnection. £128 seems silly to reconnect, the wires are already there!

    £35 connection charge for Virgin, and they said they would waver this after saying I would go to BT! :rotfl:
