Hi,
I claimed back both the reserve fees and regular bank charges from Barclays on behalf of my niece. They point blank refused to refund the reserve fees but did pay out on the regular fees.
Normally I would have tried to push this further with both the bank and the the FOS but my niece didn't want me to and just accepted their offer of the regular fees and arranged an overdraft with them to be used before any reserve in future.
Not sure if anyone has had any luck with getting these reserve fees back but this is my one and only experience of them.
Probably not the best news you wanted but at least you get an idea of other peoples' experiences.
My advice would by to try with the bank first using the template letters as a guide and if you get nowhere with them then try the FOS.
I don't post a lot but when I do, I try to be helpful:)

thanks. most of the fees that i have are reserve fees, at the moment i am on state benifit and sometimes if i have been overdrawn 2and a half weeks that £66 worth of charges, thats nearly a third of my child tax credit money!
how likely is it that they refund reserve fees?0 -

Financial hardship--possibly
any other argument--most definitely not without a rock solid legal argument.
You can ask them to remove the reserve though

Hi Savermidget,
I have claimed both, overdraft fees and reserve fees back with Barclays and have had both refused. Is there a specific template you used for the letter? I would be very interested as the overdraft fees go back for years and if summed up would cover what I owe the bank in overdraft if that makes sense..
Towards the end of each month I get into the end of my overdraft but if they had not charged me all that money, I would be in credit every month.. at least that's my theory..! Any suggestions how to get my bank charges back? Thank you so much!0
