i can't say its a surprise. im sure there will be more to go to china.

the real question is are we really selling up to china or is there a bigger picture we aren't really seeing yet?

imagine the chinese spend billions buying all our cars with internal combustion engines then all of a sudden we all change to some new renewable fuel that we manufacture leaving the chinese out in the cold with useless out of date stuff?

is that too far fetched? we can't really be leaving ourselves so wide open can we?

  • Wide open to what? China needs the western world to survive. Without us as its customers, it's finished.

It isn't as though they manufacture products we can't make ourselves. They just do it cheaply.

  • Give what time? Do tell, what magnificent inventions are the Chinese coming up with that didn't originate in the west, or Japan?

There are lots of things that we used to do for ourselves, grow food, make clothes etc which the lack of practice of has made many of us now unable to do.

If we stop manufacturing a product, over time the resources and skills which we use to enable us to do it may be lost.

Probably the same as either Jaguar or Landrover who are owned by Tata of India, ie, none. I doubt this is going to make any difference to the Volvo car buyer, don't forget the Chinese company has already announced that they plan to run Volvo as a separate business concern still based in Sweden.
