stockholm on aug bank holiday

We're off to Stockholm during the aug bank holiday and are trying to find reasonably priced accommodation in or near the old town (I know it may seem like an impossibility since it's quite an expensive city) but if anyone has places they could recommend then it'd be greatly appreciated. Also any recommendations for accommodation in any of the islands of the archipelago - we may stay out of stockholm centre for a couple of nights.

Hi,
We stayed at the Pensionat Oden. They have three places in town & we stayed at the 'Norrmalm' place on Kammakargarten. It is north of Gamla stan & took us about ten mins walk to get down there.

The double room was massive, but the facilities were down the corridor. Had a simple continental breakfast thrown in to. We enjoyed our stay there.

We can reccomend a nice place to eat to, its by the Gamla Stan Metro & a couple of flower stalls. I cannot remember the name of the place but its on the corner overlooing the flower stalls. Had wonderful lunches in there.
