Downloading rental movies and tv shows.

Could someone tell me how to do this please. Is it possible to rent movies online by downloading ? I've seen something on my ps3 about renting movies by downloading which is a lot easier than going than battling the traffic jams to get to my local Blockbuster store. Is there a cheap website to do this?

Can I do the same with tv shows? In particular Dexter season 3. It's not out in the UK on DVD until Aug and then I will probably not be able to rent the box set as it's bound to be out every time I go in there. I don't want to buy the boxset as I'll only watch it once.

I've seen lots of websites to watch Dexter but I assume these are probably illegal sites?

are you looking at HD or standard definition formats?
