I applied for a quote to them earlier today & it costs more than I presently pay to Halifax for combined buildings & contents insurance for less cover, so I wasn't impressed.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
  • I got a qoute from Tesco also ...... again less cover and more than i currently pay with Abby

Now I dont know how this works but I have had quotes from both Halifax and Lloyds and they alot more expensive ?

My parents get Lloyds Insurance for £150 so why was my quote £371 ?

I have tried so many companys and this was the cheapest quote.

How old are you? Do you have accidental damage cover?

Like motor insurance, young people + accidental damage cover = lots of claims = high premiums.

Tescos tend to be aimed at a slightly younger market than Lloyds & Halifax so would be more competitive for that market

You're more likely find the Lloyds quote extortionate and the Tesco quote aint too hot either. Check the sum insured values Tescos are quoting for, they may be rather low.

anybody know a good home insurer for this type of house the run of the mill ones don't seem to want to insure me - yet I bet my home isn't worth anywhere near as much as one down South!
    Many thanks

I tried the tesco 1/2 price website but It was more than what I'm payin at the minute,

I'm with morethan, 75k contents & unlim buildings, cost £200, -£40 from quidco cashback, so it came out at £160.

Tesco wanted £220 for £28k cover.

I wonder what the prices would be if they weren't on a 1/2 price sale?!!

Like others, I checked out the Tesco half price insurance. It was double what I am paying with Halifax. The insurance only covers up to £18'500, £100 excess, plus several other excess exclusions, such as £50 if things are damaged when moving house. If this is half price for such low cover I would be surprised if they get many takers.

It is like any insurance though... Halifax for me this year was about £400, Tesco about £200 and Egg £120 all providing sufficient cover for my needs with the same excess.

All insurers have their own rating tables and all have their own target customers. There is no insurance company that is always going to be cheaper for everyone and no insurer that is always going to be more expensive.
