the bluetooth implementation on the touch is next to useless if you don't use it for streaming audio.
not sure about the iphone, but i'd imagine that it's apple restricting everything on the iphone/touch0 -
I think you will find that the Bluetooth on the iPod touch / iPhone is only meant for pairing with Bluetooth headphones0

Exactly the reason why, when I upgrade my mobile phone in December, I will not be having an iPhone!!!! Load of pants!:heart2::heart2::heart2: I LOVE MY BEAGLE! :heart2::heart2::heart2:0

I don't get this at all. I have an iTouch and it won't pair with my Bluetooth-enabled mobile (the latter will pair with everything else).
The phone can see the iTouch, and vice versa, but they won't pair.
I thought Bluetooth was supposed to be a universal standard-so if Apple advertise it as having Bluetooth, it's reasonable to expect it to work with other devices?
If Apple sold MacBooks with USB that didn't connect to non-Apple products, would they get away with that?No free lunch, and no free laptop

I touch and phone are restricted to pairing with compatable head sets only. Next to useless to have Bluetooth at all with it.Survey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740

You can only pair bluetooth devices that have compatiable services.
Just because devices can talk to each other doesn't mean they will be interested what each is saying.
EG. I have a bluetooth headset and a bluetooth mouse. In theory you could connected them togeather but end end result would be pointless so they wont pair.0 -
No mention of any restrictions in the tech specs:

All i really want to do is be able to transfer photos from my phone to my ipod touch

you can do that with a few apps on the app store, but you will need another ipod touch or iphone for it to work.
if you want to jailbreak it, then look at ibluetooth for sending things to other devices.0 -
