Wow, they need some guidance from solicitors, they can go to see a solicitor
for free for half an hour.
Company ught to be ashamed of themselves.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

I have no idea of the exact ins and out, I know the company has been struggling since the son took over day to day running.
I cant see that this will save them enough money to save the company as the drivers will be wanting more money to cover new overheads as well as for the inconvenience of being self employed so not much of a saving to be made
a different company is taking my dad on, hiring him a vehicle and he will just have to invoice for his hours. Im so glad hes almost out of there
thanks all for your replies0 -
Tell your dad to keep all receipts and invoices and any associated expenses.
Depending on his income, (state pension, private pension, etc. he will have to declare all to the HMRC. Luckily, at 65 his tax allowance goes up another £3k or so and he wont pay NI contributions any longer.
Wish him good luck.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

thanks, he will only be working 10 weeks past his retirement so it will be a tax free year as he wont earn enough, although I expect his pensions will take a whacking lol0

he thinks he is doing the younger ones a favour by not telling them as most haven't been there long and if the company folds they wont have a job, although I think they really are just prolonging the inevitable
The company's struggling. Your dad will incur all these expenses (tax, petrol, etc..). He will do the work, then invoice the company. What happens if the company goes bust?
If I were him and the other workers I would want the money in advance before incurring the expenses.I am an employment solicitor. However, my views should not be taken to be legal advice. It's difficult to give correct opinion based on the information given by posters.0 -
So company B has taken over the employees from company A isn't this one that comes under TUPE and all the consultations that go with it?0
