I wasn't sure where to post this;
You can get this free here. The promos been on all weekend, and there's just a few hours left before it expires.
You have to register first to get it free, and then it must be activated before midnight tonight.
I used to like this program, when it was a basic anti-malware program, but haven't been too keen on the extra features in recent years.This includes Sunbelts VIPRE antivirus engine, and is free for a year I'm going to uninstall avast and give a go.

So you are going to replace a free antivirus prog with one you will need to pay for in a year .... no pointI wasn't sure where to post this;

,As this includes avira antivirus
No mention of Avira in offer as far as I can determine.
Are you sure you want this?0 -
Using the Avira engine is one thing, using its database is quite another:idea:0

The engine is the program used to scan
The database is whats used to check to see that what its scanning is nasty or not
Whilst it may be a very good engine, without the database it 'probably' wouldnt be too good (It would probably use whatever database adaware have put together). That said maybe it does use aviras up to date database? I seriously doubt it, but if anyone can find out id be intrigued:idea:0 -
Sorry my apologies, I'll edit my earlier posts. Those links had incorrect information.
AA+ used to use Avira in a previous version, but now uses Sunbelts VIPRE engine according to Wilders (from version 8.2).0 -
I would suggest that the older tools like Ad-Aware and Spybot - Search & Destroy have been supplanted by newer and better tools like Malwarebytes' AntiMalware, Super AntiSpyware and HitMan Pro...0

I have used MBAM and SAS free versions for full twice weekly scans, for some years so will not be getting rid of those. I also use spywareblaster, and prevx free, as they are light and I can more or less forget about them, (apart from manually updating spywareblaster).
I am giving this a try, as it was free, and I was curious to see if it was less bloated, and slow, than it has been when I've tried free versions in recent years. Despite it being old (and slow), it stopped a couple of trojans from being installed when I was using vista.
It still takes a lot longer to load up, than avast, or mse, but it loads more quickly than it used to, and runs fine so far. I'm debating whether to get rid of prevx free as it uses ad-watch live, which does more or les the same thing, or to disable ad-watch live, and let prevx do its very good (and light!) job.
It seems improved from what I can see so far.
I can always revert back to the disk image I did before installing it. :cool: I probably will do in a couple of days time anyway, as I installed to see what the plus version was like (I love freebies

Update:
I have tried it, and uninstalled it. Too slooow!
