Reclaiming mis sold PPI, have no documents relating to it though, still possible??

Hi all, a few years ago (2004) i stupidly got into a lot of debt, i firstly took out a welcome finance personal loan of £1,500 to pay off some bills as these where the only company that would touch me, i was told at the time that i had to take out PPI or else the finance wouldnt be available, so i took it out.

I them got a secured loan off them for £15,000 to help me out of a hole, again PPI was added without my knowledge, i ended up on the verge of losing my home so had to sell it and these loans where paid off, i then lost all my paperwork, either by not deeming them improtant enough to keep or mis placing them.

I have tried contacting Welcome finance myself to get agreement numbers as i feel they took advantage of me in my youth by making me take out PPI and want to reclaim.

I phoned the number for customer services, and talked to a young man who was as useful as a chocolate fire guard and suggested that i could write and they would then be able to help, ive sent seven letters with no reply, i then sent a draft letter off this site for reclaiming PPI and gave them 8 weeks to reply, within a week i got a letter back saying if i supplied my credit agreement then they would investigate, i havent got these details as stated ive lost them, they wont give them me over the phone or by mail, does this mean i have lost out and cant claim back? or is there another way to get them??

I am also having trouble with RBS on the same issue ive supplied the agreement number this time, yet because my current address doesnt match the old they wont help me, ive been told to goto a branch and update my address details, yet when i did the customer services girl said she couldnt as the account had been redemmed and closed so she cant alter it, what do i do now??

Sorry for the essay im just panicing now as its nearing the 6 years cut off, any help would be great guys, thanks.

    Hi there

Sorry for the delay in responding.
I think an SAR (Subject access Request) will therefore be the best option in order to receive any of the information.
They have 40 days to comply with this request, you enclose £10 cheque or postal order payment, give them as many details as possible (if you do not have the account number), the year the loan was taken out, the amount, address details, if any other address when this was taken out and so on - in order for them to track down your information.
SAR template letter with details here:

You can try retrieving loan account numbers by checking old banking statements, normally shown next to the monthly loan repayments, of if you bank online check that way, some allow you to go back 7 years online.
If you do have the account number, write to them enclose a £1 postal order or cheque payment, and request they send you by 12 days.

Hope this helps, good luck and please ask for further help if required.

    Are welcome are winding up?

    Hi there

Not too sure, they are linked to Cattles I believe???

As far as I know they are still running, unless someone can clarify otherwise.
