Reading AOL email in Google

Sorry if this is a dumb question and I do believe it has been answered before but I have forgotten the answer.
I read AOL email in Chrome but it is not ideal and I cannot find how to get a toolbar that will allow me to make words BOLD or underlined or change the font etc. Would it be better in Google itself?
It is very strange, but for a brief second earlier the tool bar I am looking for actually
appeared at the top of the email space.
I do not have and will not buy MS Office which would make things easier of course.

Not sure what you mean "Google itself".
And I am not a AOL user, but the toolbars you see whilst editing on a web page itself are integral to the web page.
So if Google chrome is not functioning, try IE or Firefox.0 -

So your accessing your AOL email through AOL's email client in the Google Chrome browser and AOL's email client doesn't allow simple features such as making words bold?
Use something far superior then, like Gmail. You could forward your AOL email to your Google mail account then. There are other methods but using google is easily the first choice imo.
If you can't be bothered doing that you could always use something like mail2web.com which has rich text editing features.0
