Tipping Removal Men/Women??

Me and my OH are moving house on Monday and it's the first time we've used a removal company.
So was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on tipping? Yes/no? How much? Cash or bottles of booze?
There is an average amount of stuff to be moved but some heavy stuff (Cd's and my vinyl collection plus decks/stereo equipment) from the top floor of current property to top floor of new house so appreciate the hard work that goes into that
Any advice greatly appreciated

We tipped our last removal guys a tenner each. They were very helpful, friendly and easy to deal with. They worked their socks off all day for it, mind!0

Yeah we normally give a tenner each too.The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0

I think about £10 each is a fair tip. When I moved last time there was a very long delay caused by the previous owners still moving their stuff out when my removal lorry arrived. As My removal men made no complaints at having to sit around for so long & worked extremely hard to get everything uloaded & into the right rooms, I gave the 3 of them a £20 tip each. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
we gave ours £20 each, gave them bacon butties on arrival and plenty of brews!!
Made things very easy as they kept telling me that I should ignore the wife and not lift a finger to help them!!! :rotfl:I am an IFA (and boss o' t'swings idst)You should note that this site doesn't check my status as an IFA, so you need to take my word for it. We tipped them £10 each too
They were very helpful and easygoing, and didn't mind waiting around for our lightly late completion.
As for anything else though, I wouldn't have tipped if we hadn't had good service!0 -

Yeah, keeping them fed and watered is well worth it. Tea, coffee and plenty of choccy biccies. Bacon butties to get them going is a great idea.0 -
Didn't realise this was the done thing, aren't removals expensive enough anyway?!

We gave ours £20 to share between three of them.
They were so nice on what was a really stressful day that it was the least we could do (and given all the other moving costs, it was minimal really!)"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
We've only ever used removal men once, there were three of them and we must have tipped them £50 or something. Then when we'd unpacked we realised my passport, driving licence and our dogs pedigree papers had gone missing. Few weeks later, so did the dobermann. we never got to the bottom of it.
But hey, doesnt mean it will happen to you! Good luck with your move, and don't forget the bacon butties!I am a Mortgage Adviser
