404 - File or directory not found.

The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

i get this if i right click on one of the bad images, go to properties and paste url into a new window.

is that something? or is that cos its not published?

What are the permissions to the directories hosting the pictures?

If you are using *NIX based operating system on your Control Panel you should have a "file manager". In there you probably upload everything to either WWW or Public_HTML directory.

When you get 404, I'd say the problem is either
    - Permissions
    - Incorrect File Path (wrong directory to where it's looking)
    - Incorrect spelling (simple filenames like .JPG instead of .JPEG) or capitals instead of lowercase.....

That publish may have something to do with it, it depends how exactly the publishing function works.

Definately wouldn't consider them now, I just use them for my domain name nothing more lol

How have they disabled it, is the product no longer available?

They may have disabled it due to bugs which were uncorrectable, in which cause I'd demand a refund and use the money to buy some decent hosting

  • Hi
I know I may be a bit late replying but have had sitebuilder from fasthosts for nearly a month now - has taken me a long time to find my way round but I had the same problem as u with pictures and got in touch with their technical support people - no help whatsoever, but kept at it and found out myself that I had spaces in the file name, they'd imported OK but next day came with red cross. But thats all it was, I went back and renamed my pics and uploaded again and they were fine. My problem is I don't like the look of my shop page with text links I wanted picture links - if anyone knows how to do this I'd be grateful - but maybe its not possible - no point asking tech support they don't help at all and the manual mmmm...

    hi ann

well we ditched fasthost site builder and i now use Serif Webplus x4 which cost about 70 pounds but OMG its amazingly easy and you can do all the wonderful things you want to do with a website. im still learning but i can quickly build pages upload blogs etc etc and it has the shopping cart with paypal already built in. have a look at www.darcyandcharles.com - thats the website i built in about a week with it.
    wish you good luck!

hi sarah... no i mean from the point of view of their web building tools... yes i agree stability and up time of service .. .ihave no problme with but to use their sitebuilder and eshop tools was really annoying... so thats why i use something different to build the website... we still are hosted on fast hosts... no hosting issues... good for hosting... maybe i didnt make myself clear in that regard!

    thanks
