Amazon market place puzzle

I was looking in Amazon market place for an electronic item - their "warehouse-deals-uk" have a refurbished one doing a canary impression.
I noticed that there are a whole raft of people offering the new item for more (and often considerably more) than Amazon.
What on earth is the point of that?
Given the price of the item the p&p will be a worse deal too.
As far as I can see, the only reason to do that would be to snaffle a few customers if Amazon go out of stock.

Prices go up as well as down. Warehouse deals are normally one off with amazon so it will soon be snaffled by someone.0

It wasn't the warehouse deal that I was puzzled about.
Amazon sell the device normally for £127 (I saved £19 just for a bit of damage on the outer box).
There were about 6 sellers selling the same item for between £132 and £144.
I've seen this on ebay as well.
I occasionally buy an item where, when you do a search there are up to a dozen for £10 with free postage, but there are ebay shops selling (or not) the same item for £29. This item is only ever sold BNIB.
I wonder if the shops ever sell any of this particular item.0 -
I see what you mean, I am sure half these folk load listings and forget about them. I was selling something on Amazon recently at around £200, Amazon themselves cut the price to under £120 and I was thrown into mild panic and cut my price to shift stock. What a mistake; about a fortnight later Amazon were gone as a seller and normal service was resumed with me having taken a big hit on a few of them ouch!!0
