Ihad a "pathways" interview, you have to go as they will sanction you if you don't. I have to say it was a total waste of time as I was waiting for the results of a lot of test and also waiting to have the dreaded Atos medical. The woman I saw was totally unhelpul and quite rude to me. As for "reaonable" adjustments, well my employer was unable to make these as they were a small organisation and it was not an ecomonic proposition. I find some of the responses on this board quite judgemental, very different from the responses on the "debt free wannabe". Like celinepatrica I have worked and paid tax and NI for a significant number of years. I am now facing the prospect of neurosurgery and have only 6 years to go before I retire, I find this whole ESA thing really stressful.

Access to work make the adjustments. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/DisabledPeople/Employmentsupport/WorkSchemesAndProgrammes/DG_4000347

The test of what is reasonable takes into account the size and means of the employer. As sh1305 has explained, the JCP can refer you to other organisations who can provide financial support to enable such adjustments.

The Government is in a 'damned if you don't, damned if you do' situation!!

For years, virtually everyone in the country complained that too many people were allowed to claim 'sick' & just sit at home on their backsides...

Then, procedures were made so that situation changed and a more 'pro-active' approach was adopted... and now.. the same people who probably complained about the old situation are now complaining about the new situation!!!

Whether you think it is relevant or not to your current situation, the gvt CANNOT discriminate & must see everyone (except if you are in the Support Group). If everyone decided they shouldn't have to attend, then we'd be back to square 1..!!
Oops!! Should I have posted this??? Some users don't think I shouldn't be offering advice due to my occupation!!!
  • i would have thought that, if the worst comes to the worst, and my husband is unable to return to his employment, that these appointments would be more beneficial to him then... once you have attended you dont get a second chance to go back again...I'm not moaning, i just dont see what good they are going to do now when they could be of some use in the future.. and by the way.. whoever you are.. i think your quite rude!!

You think I am rude because I have given you the information that you asked for? That would make you ... ungrateful? ;)

You can see your DEA again after the Pathways interviews (or the Pathways organisation, if you have been referred), all you need to do is cal them and politely ask.
