Fake messages from Ebay seller?

Hi there

Just wondering if anyone else gets this type of email? I've been getting about one a month for a while now.

The message is presented as if it has been sent via the Ebay message centre and it's always telling me something I haven't ever bid on or bought - usually a sports book or in today's case an I phone - has been packed and is ready to be shipped.

This is the one I received today:

Hi there,
Many thanks for bidding. Your phone is wrapped and ready to go in today's post.
Thanks again and enjoy the smart iPhone.
cheers, Dave

When I check my Ebay messages obviously, it isn't there. My instinct is this is some kind of phishing scam but I don't know of anyone else that has received these.

Does anyone else get these? Or am I special :D

Els x

    Thanks for your replies.

The auction appears legitimate (the winner isn't me) but I just clicked on the seller's name in my original post ( I hadn't moved the hyperlink like I thought)

It comes up with an Ebay login page but the address on the browser is clearly nothing to do with Ebay so it seems it is a phishing scam afterall.

I'm taking it off so no one signs in using it.

Would still like to hear if anyone else has had similar emails?

Its a scam to get your log-in details. Used to get them on an almost daily basis, interestingly not had one in a while.

The give away is they are normally fom EBay.com and not .co.uk

    Just don't click the link.

I always forward them on to ebay, I used to get a lot from fake paypal at one time.
