Cat Shedding

Timmy is shedding his winter coat and our house is covered in fur, feels like I am constantly hoovering

He gets groomed on a daily basis and I took him to "play out" on the patio today, which he hated (he's typically a house cat) and ran straight back in the house.

Is there anything more I can do?

I used to use a pair of rubber gloves, i dipped my hands in water and just ran my hands over our kitty. Apart from her enjoying it, it got rid of a lot of hair. Being damp it didnt fly everywhere. TJ is losing his winter coat as well, I have just finished giving him a good brush. I bet some one has a bette rtip than mine, I shall watch for ideas myself.

Ooh I was gonna ask the same thing! My first year of having shedding cats - didn't think they would do it due to being indoor but they definitely are!

I've got one of those grooming mitts (think it's made by JML) he loves it!

    FURminator does look very good.

I usually don't mind his hair, but because he's shedding and we have visitors next week I want to try and minimise the amount round the house.

I use a combination technique of the furminator in one hand and the Zoom groom in the other. Ok, watch out for clouds of cat hair everywhere, but once you clean that up the cat hardly sheds at all!
Furminator is superb at removing the undercoat whereas the zoom groom takes out the tougher outer hairs.

I'm having the same problem too but only with one of my cats! I'm brushing him every day, sometimes a couple of times a day but doesn't seem to be helping. Is driving me bonkers, how long does this normally go on for??

    Hello,

I have a longish haired ginger rescue kitty, I have to say, he is my pride and joy! I love him to bits and he lets me do anything, clean his teeth, give him a pill bla bla bla. As he has long hair though he gets upset with the 'normal' type metal brushes. I found something called the zoom groom and it has changed our lives! As he is log haired and now that he is losing his winter coat, ginger fur fluff is all over the place. The zoom groom works as it's rubber and uses the static to get the 'loose' fur. It also doesn't hurt when you pull it through the fur! It's cheap too at about £6. Here's a link. Best thing that I have found so far!

  • I vote Furminator! So does my cat - she would be groomed by this forever and is always disappointed when her time is up!

It really does remove all the loose under-coat fur and you will be amazed at how much is removed.

I ordered a furminator yesterday, should arrive shortly, I will let you know how they all get on with it and see how much hair comes out!
Be who you are, say what you feel, those who mind don't matter, those who matter don't mind.
They say that talking to yourself is a sign of mental illness. So I talk to the cats instead.

It normally produces enough hair to knit a new cat.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
