Eon to British Gas
Options
Hi
Recently change from ~Eon to B Gas. Just received Final Bill from Eon which is very large due to the very cold winter we have had. The bill is £600 which says to be paid immediately( how come any other bill has to be paid within 28 days and this one IMMEDIATELY)
Well basically we havent got £600 (and we do not have credit cards) was basically going to ring them and make a small token payment of £30, tell them the situation and basically say that we can make small token payments for the next couple of months and then on 23rd July we can make the finaly payment,
Am really worrying about this and keep putting off ringing them.
any advice?

Contact E.on as soon as possible if you have trouble paying their bill.
The earlier you contact them, the sooner (and probably the more sympathetic) they'll be able to help."Now to trolling as a concept. .... The thing is you are in debt to this company. You may be better to cancel the switch to BG until the debt is gone as if you are leaving E.ON they will be less sympathetic as your not there customer anymore. They will just send the debt collector.
You have 28 days from the time you agree to switch that all bills must be paid in full as any supplier can cancel the switch. His Heart Proved He Was A RedSuarez, SuarezWe Bought The Lad From AmsterdamWe Know He's Not a Chelsea Fan.Fernando Torres = El Judas0 -
It's likely the reason it says "immediately" is because you may have paid via Direct Debit before, and have now cancelled said Direct Debit. This makes any balance owing payable immediately with most companies.
You can't "cancel the switch" now, the supply has fully moved over and a final bill has been generated - technically, Eon and BG could arrange what is called a 'co-operative objection' and return the supply to Eon via the erroneous transfer route, but that could take months to fully sort out and it would cost the suppliers. It's unlikely Eon would cancel the switch as it's likely to be paid quicker via instalment plan.
Another option is to ask Eon if the OP were to return via the standard "hello i'd like to move back to you as a supplier" route, would the balance be held, transferred to the new account when it returns and then incorporated into a new direct debit and spread out over the year/until July when you can settle in full. No guarantee thoughI suppose it depends who you get through to when you phone. Phone general billing enquiries as opposed to the 'debt' lines, as they'll likely be targetted on cash collection.
It's likely that token payments won't get you very far, as even though the thought is there, it won't be a 'recognised' agreement. Eon may offer to spread the balance out in instalments, but you might only get 3 or 4 instalments, which would still be quite a lot of money each month toward the payments. I'd phone and ask them if you were to return via the standard route, would they be able to hold the balance/block the accounts and then incorporate it into a new DD. Worth a shot! Hope that helps & best of luck.0 -

Hi Ibaz
All final bills ask for immediate payment. However, this is not set in stone and each case will be looked at individually provided customers let us know if they think there may be a problem.
I would contact us as soon as you can about this. Ask for a payment arrangement to be set up to spread the final balance over a more manageable period.
Is the final balance based on accurate meter readings? If not, ask for a re-bill to actual info. British Gas should have given us their opening readings by now. These will be used as our closing readings.
Hope this helps point you in the right direction, Ibaz. Give me a shout if I can help further as will be happy to do so. You can use the email address in my Personal Profile if you prefer.
The important thing is to talk to us.
