How long do you wait?

I find that most buyers pay pretty promptly. After sending an invoice, how long would you wait for some form of contact before sending a little reminder to the buyer? I don't like to appear pushy.

Contact within a few days. If no contact, I'd start a dispute after 7 days.

I usually wait about 3 days on Paypal only purchases.

I wait 5 days before they get a polite email asking if they still want the item. Then after 7 days I file a Non Paying Bidder alert.

5 days, if I don't hear anything after 7 days have passed, I'll start the unpaid process.

The item in question has been bought by a buyer of over 300+ @ 99.8%. Buyer bid in the last few minutes, but no word for three days.

    Thanks for advice.

  • A 3 day delay isn't a lot, though it would be nice if buyers would at least complete the ebay checkout or send a message to let us know their chosen payment method. I'd probably wait about 5 or 6 days before asking politely how they've chosen to pay, and if no reply after another couple of days, send a reminder invoice asking them to let me know if they've sent payment.

Another trick with a slow payer is to request contact details via this link:

    http://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQtZvbQQsofindtypeZ9

It gives you their phone number and sends them an email telling them you have requested their phone number. You usually don't have to ring it, to them just the thought that the seller might ring them up is enough to make them pay up pretty pronto.

Agree perfectly - give them seven days, start the NPB (they get a polite email from ebay) and wait for response.

  • I'm a pretty leniant seller, if there is a problem with payment then providing buyers let me know I don't mind. I have one child at home, don't have transport & a baby due in 13 days so I know that sometimes life gets in the way but as long as I'm informed then that's ok.
