I have just bought a used Toyota corrolla verso (57 plate with 16,000 miles). It has been serviced twice at Toyota dealership and it is in an excellent condition and i woul like to keep it for years. I contacted my local Toyota dealer regarding service costs and they said they will make me a special offer (two services-one major and one minor-over two years for £328. apparantly the two services cost £438). Do you think this is a good deal? they even offered me to pay the £328 over 10 months, interest free. Will servicing at indpendent garages will be much cheaper?

A lot depends on whats involved in that Major service.
If includes gearbox/final drive oil change, brake fluid change, full brake strip and clean then it might well be a reasonable saving.
Other than that a minor service is basically an oil change and inspection, and you do pay way over the odds at the dealers for that.

It probably won't need servicing until it's out of warranty anyway, then you will have to factor in any possible goodwill that Toyota may give should a fault develop in it's fourth year, if you go indy on the 3rd service they won't be so forthcoming.
Always a difficult decision, my Toyota is 57 plate too, and i have already decided to let them service it at 3 years for the above goodwill reason and decide when it's 4 which way to go.

EDIT, i thought the package was for 3 services, 2 minor one major.
To compare my Hilux minor service is roughly £170.
Major was about £270, but that includes changing both diff oils and i do specify new fuel filters, and the Hilux does take 7+ litres of oil.
I don't think your quoted service costs are particularly good, might be worth ringing round other Toyota dealers for a quote and do find out whats involved in a major service.

thanks alot....i think the service components are the same in all dealerships so if a minor service is only about oil change it will be the same every where. comparing what they quoted me to your £440 for servicing you car i thought i am getting a good deal!!!

Slightly tongue in cheek but you never know.

Will the dealership still be there in 2 years?

Worth asking for the servicing offer to be indemnified by manufacturer in event of dealer closure/takeover perhaps.

If it was me I would be checking a couple of quotes locally and if the saving wasn't fairly decent for me that would be 25%+ (to even start thinking about it) then I would figure who knows what will happen in two years. Car sold/written off etc.
