Bank with natwest,don't want solo card anymore

I have a basic bank account with natwest, it has no overdraft or anything as had to switch to a basic bank account when i entered a DMP because i previously banked with lloydstsb but as i had debts with them they of course had the right to withdraw funds to cover payments etc.

However a basic bank account with natwest means i have a solo card and whilst 99% of the time its okay to use everywhere, recently i am finding shops and especially things online do not accept solo cards.

How can i get a visa debit card through natwest, any accounts i can switch to with natwest in order to get a visa debit card?

Either pop into your local branch or give them a call, tell them your card is damaged or not working properly, and the new card you receive will be the Visa Debit.
Natwest are phasing out Switch Maestro and Solo and moving to Visa over the coming year, the cards are going out in random batches, but if you do what I have suggested you should recieve one within a week (bearing in mnd Bank Hols post- may be a bit longer)

I've had their step account for 3 years and have just got a new normal debit card. What C0c0nuts is saying is true so you will automatically get one, but it could be at any time. Give the a ring and ask them for now x

their basic current account has a visa debit account, they have recently changed from maestro to visa

lol well yes of course thats the easiest solution, however its sunday and of course they're closed, so thought id ask on here about it all.

Dont wanna say the card is damaged or not working properly incase they then cancel the card and then i am without use of it until a new one arrives.
But i will phone them tomorrow and just ask for a new visa debit card to be sent out.

Hiya

My friend has the basic account with Nat west and a terrible credit rating - today she came and saw me and showed me her visa debit card in place of solo apparently they are no longer doing the solo and replacing all with visa debit!!!!

i bank with the halifax and have electron so I might now move to Nat West!

Just ask them to send you a replacement card, your existing card will remain in use whilst the new visa debit card is sent to you.

May be worth asking them about opening a current plus account which could come with a full debt card rather than the full authorisation visa debit card which comes with the step account (which im assuming you have).

Just been on to their website and it clearly says they have replaced their solo cards with visa debit - I applied and got accepted!
