i think you might be putting yourself down unfairly,I know in my case BR was not an easy way out, it was the only way out! I like many/most don't have a choice but to go BR,enough people already think BR is a clever way to rid youself of unwanted debt, the only choice i had was either filing myself for BR or my creditors doing it.

Errmm....i think your missing the point, this is not about BR, nor me, my demons re BR are dead and buried, its about more protectoin for those that choose to try to fight against going BR

I have voted in that thread and agree that those who choose a to try and deal with their debts via a DMP deserve some protection

Have to agree with you Bat.

I was on a DMP prior to BR for 2 years and creditors were still adding interest getting me nowhere. That was a big decision in my BR.

I've voted Bat, It would encourage more to seek help earlier and bankruptcy would not be the 'only' option!

I have voted yes and clicked on like it also.

Whilst we had no option but to go BR, I do feel that those that can choose another route should be protected.

    Clicked thanks, liked and YES.

Totally agree. My DMP was met with a brick wall; the first year was okayish, with most creditors accepting the offers and some refused. Then as soon as the first 12 months were up it was tough luck on me. Most refused to help and wouldn't entertain any offers, interest and charges were re-instated and its that point I stopped paying most of them; what's the point in chuking money at a hole that was getting bigger?

    It really would have helped.

    Hi Bat,

I must admit that the "statutory debt management plan " trail has gone cold. If you'd have asked me a year ago I would have said that it would be in legislation by April/ october 2010 !- Personally I think it is the introduction of the DRO that has put the brakes on the SDMP.Creditors (especially catalogue and door step lenders) are shouting loudly against any more legislation.
