It depends whether or not the OP has access to the account. If she does ,afaik, it will be counted.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
OP you have to declare your savings whether they are in your name or in your child's name. Its your daughters savings as you have chosen to give it to her as savings, dont really see what it has to do with anyone else its not yours to touch if its in her name surely ?JSA DON'T take into account child benefit, they do take into account Working tax and child tax credits.
If your husband claims Contribution based only then he will recieve 64.30 per week until the tariffs change at the start of the tax year then it will go up by about a quid. No incomewill be take into account unless its from a pension or any current work under 15 hrs per week.
On income based benefits then with any income over 6,000 you will start to get deductions from your JSA money which would be 100.95 for a couple although again this is due to go up by a poundish.
I wouldn't declare ittazwhoever wrote: »i believe it affects jsa ir, but does not affect hb and ctbI think it only affects it if you have 16K or more in savings. but you do have to declare it, unless it's in a trust fund you can't touch, then that may be different.*SIGH*

But they do take into account savings. Where the savings are from benefits, inhertance or work.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

I know this is off subject but the OP's situation does flag up the question of how much the country wastes by paying universal Child Benefit to people who obviously do not need it, how many others have nice little nest eggs thanks to this policy?0

THIS WOULD BE DEPRIVATION OF CAPITAL; YOU CAN'T JUST GIVE MONEY AWAY AND CLAIM BENEFITS! (Sorry about the capitals - not shouting!)0 -
I found this which seems to say that the OP has been naughty:
HOW WE WILL PAY YOU
We pay your Child Benefit directly into a bank, building society or Post Office® card account.
You can use an account held by you or your partner or somebody who is acting on your behalf. We cannot pay Child Benefit into an account held in a child’s name or an account that is in your name and a child’s name.
Found it here http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/forms/ch2.pdf
At the start of part 5.
This would definately say that it is your money (op and hubby) not your child's and so is just like any other savings/ money gifts you give your child and counts towards paying for the household when in times of need.
It's only a game

Good for you! Unlike the attitude of most who come on and say they need to claim JSA and have thousands sitting in the bank but dont see why they should have to spend their savings!
Afterall savings is there to buy nice things or incase of an emergency.0
