FYI the issuer of any cheque based payment may cancel the cheque at any time before it has been presented for clearance, most banks charge a fee for this,in this case the OP has done the correct thing and the matter should now be resolved direct with the company/take away that the cheque was issued to.

Some people seem to make things up as they go along, at least get your facts straight before commenting PNPSUKNET :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I think you're talking utter tosh, you ate that food so you legally and morally should pay for it.

if it really was "awful" as you claim then you should have kept this alleged vast majority of food and taken it back to them the same or following day.

since you couldn't be bothered to (or just couldn't) do that, you deserve to pay and it's extremely irriating that you think you're entitled to get something for nothing like that.

No doubt the cheque payment was all part of your ruse.

If they sued you they would win (because of the cheque) irrespective of the quality of the food.
Easiest way is to pay (with protest) and then start a complaint about the food including if need be trading standards.

If you do not pay now you will incur substantial legal costs.
You of course did seek medical advice when you were ill and they confirmed the food you ate did the damage or was it just coincidence??

f you do not pay now you will incur substantial legal costs.

Sounds likely to be a small claims sized issue, so this is unlikely.
