help wanted personal statement any ideas???

Hiya This may not be in the right place sorry if not!

I am trying to help a friend apply to uni and she has to do her personal statement. Any ideas to help eg websites/personal advice from your statement anything to help really.

Hi, can you tell us what course she is applying for? I generally find that the course description/literature will give you some ideas about the type of people they are looking for and the qualities/skills/experiences that are preferred - these should inform the type of information you put in the personal statement.

Hello It's History and we have looked at the course details, looked at the college and had a bit of help eg mention work experience/reading/specialist mags read/hobbies etc but just wondered if there are extra ideas from someone who had done it before so to speak.

She just has to say why she believes that it is the right course for her. Since it is a personal statement, every individual will say something different, so no website can possibly help.

Write anything, some uni's and particular courses don't even read them. Just make it sound good, even if it is bullsh#t. Also, check your spelling and grammar.

I am in the middle of writing one for a job application. It's basically selling yourself to them. Tell them why you want the job (uni course) what you could bring to it. Extra skills qualifications you have. What drives you, how motivated you are etc... i'm nearly finished mine. It sounds a bit like " i love me" but you need to suck up and sound like you are the best for the post.

there should be staff at her school who can read it and give feedback on how to improve it. so once she has something, they can help make it better!
