Adding extra clutch and brake pedals

Hi

Is it feasible to get an extra set of brake and clutch pedals added to my car? Are there specialist companies which do this? Any ideas on the likely cost?

Obviously these are mainly be used by driving instructors but they would be useful for me when I am showing someone how to drive in my car. Is this legal? Or do I need to be a qualified ADI?

Thanks
James

The term you need to google for is "dual controls" He-Man seem to be a popular brand with driving instructors.

No idea on the legality, but I can't think of any reason why they would be illegal.

yeah he man dual controls is what you need

youd want a car that is commonly used by instructors , like a fiesta , corsa size car

would be classed as a mod most likley , so may increase the insurance too

If you're going to be paid to teach people to drive then you have to be at least part way through ADI - link HERE.
Once you have passed the second part of the qualifying examination - the driving ability assessment, you can apply for a trainee licence to help you prepare for the third part - the test of instructional ability. This allows you to be legally paid for giving driving instruction, but you should not see it as an alternative to registering as an ADI.
So if you just want to supervise a mate or child to help them through their test, no problem. If you want to do it commercially, there's a bit more to it, including a criminal record check.

It is not illegal for a private person to give lessons providing you are over 21 years old and have held a full licence for over 3 years.

It is illegal for anyone other than an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) to accept payment or any financial or other reward when teaching a learner, so you would not be able to recover the cost of the dual controls or fitting charges.
